I understand this place was once affiliated with the Orchid on Square Lake. So they are very similar.

Is one better than the other? Yes.
Are both the top 2 traditional Thai restaurants around? Yes.

99% of my review of the other Orchid applies here: nice clean decor, good service, quality ingredients, great food.

    Difference:
    1. Here, you can get any combo any day of the week, not just the one special combo of the day.
    2. The cup of soup with lunch here is very thick and very starchy.  Decent flavor, but you can almost stand your spoon up in the cup.
    3. Shrimp chips are not always fresh.

I can deal with both shortcomings to save a little bit of a drive. Who knows,  maybe some prefer the soup thick?

    Best Thai place around.

My family had dinner here and we would definitely eat here again. The service was great, both staff members we interacted with were very pleasant. The soup was good and the crab cheese was outstanding. My kids always share fried rice and chicken pad Thai. They didn't love the pad Thai because it was more sprouts than anything but the flavors were good.

Should I eat this like a dog and just stick my face into it or should I eat it like Ethiopians and just use my fingers?  I ordered carry out and I had no silverware to use because I was working on my new house which has no silverware.  They should have a cup with plastic ware for those that need it.  As a business traveler, I always appreciate the availability of silverware to take with me.

I ate the spring roll which came with sweet and sour sauce. The spring roll had tons of flavor and was piping hot.

The Kow Pode spicy was a knockout. I loved the tender chicken and the amazing assortment of perfectly stir fried veggies (carrots, napa cabbage, baby corn, pea pods, mushrooms, and scallions) in a sweet and spicy sauce. I wish the sauce was a tad bit thicker though so it would stick to the white rice better. It was like soup. The Thai style chicken fried rice, extra spicy was a standout too.

I really enjoy a restaurant than can spice things up without losing the flavor of the dish. And the dinner portions are pretty big so you'll have leftovers.

This is definitely one of the BEST Thai food restaurant I've had living in Michigan! The food was fresh and it felt like the food was made with love! The staff was  quick, friendly and consistently checked on us! I got chicken curry (Medium) comes with white rice

This has been our family's "go-to" Thai food restaurant. We always have a good meal here. For people that are vegetation they do cater to no fish sauce or oyster sauce if you need it.

The food can get spicy so me careful when ordering hot items.
